60 Suspected Terrorists Arrested In Lagos
CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

Over 60 suspected terrorists from various groups have been mopped up and arrested by the operatives of Department of Security Service, DSS in various parts of Lagos in the past two weeks.
A source within the security agency who confirmed the arrest said some of the suspects were rounded up following an intelligence report of their intended nefarious operations.
They were remanded in prison custody in Ikoyi, Lagos for further investigation on their mission in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that their remand in custody followed a court order obtained in a Lagos court after the suspects were arrested over reasonable suspicion that they are suspected terrorists.
The identity of the suspects were kept away from the public due to the sensitive nature of the matter and none of the DSS operatives will venture to leak such information.
It is not the first time the DSS would be arresting suspected terrorists in Lagos following their escape and defeat in the northern part of Nigeria.
Recently, a set of 45 suspects were arrested and remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos.
Sources said the DSS have been vigilant and intensified intelligence gathering to preempt any attack in the state, either by the terrorists or the Niger Delta militants who had escaped into Lagos and other South West states.
When our correspondent visited Ikoyi and Kirikiri prisons to ascertain the veracity of the arrest and have a chat with the suspects, officials neither confirmed nor deny their presence within their facilities.
However, other sources at the two prisons confirmed to our correspondent that there are suspects believed to be terrorists and militants remanded in custody.
There has been public anxiety that Lagos might be attacked by escaped terrorists which have informed the DSS extra-vigilance and swooped on those suspected vagabonds to frustrate any such planned attack.
