The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) was thrown into excitement from October 26 to 28, 2025, as Soundcity OnTour made a stop on campus with a blend of music, live entertainment, and talent discovery, culminating in the emergence of Abdulrazak Saubana, popularly known as Savahdor, as winner of the Bigi Music Competition.
Savahdor won the star prize of N500,000 after delivering a standout performance that won over the judges and the large student crowd that gathered for the campus festival. His victory came after three days of auditions and live performances that saw dozens of UNILORIN students battle for a chance to showcase their sound.
Second place went to Mohammed Abdulrasheed Ayomidimeji, who performs under the stage name Bamz. He impressed with his delivery and walked away with N350,000 as first runner-up.
The third spot was claimed by Adenekan Victoria, known on stage as Rhieyha, who won N150,000 as second runner-up. Together, the three top performers shared N1 million in prize money provided by the organizers.
The Bigi Music Competition was the major highlight of the Soundcity OnTour experience in Ilorin, an initiative powered by Bigi Carbonated Soft Drink and Fearless Energy Drink. The tour is designed to take music and youth culture directly to Nigerian university campuses, creating a platform for students to express themselves through entertainment.
For three days, UNILORIN students were treated to music performances, interactive sessions, and opportunities to engage with the Soundcity crew, with the competition giving aspiring artistes a rare chance to perform before a wider audience outside their usual circles.
Organizers say the tour is more than just entertainment, but a deliberate effort to connect with young Nigerians through their passion for music and creativity.
Speaking on the impact of the tour, Brand Manager for BIGI, Biola Aransiola, explained why the brand is investing in campus talent.
“Soundcity OnTour allows us to connect with young Nigerians through something they genuinely love. Beyond the excitement, we want to create moments that bring students together and give emerging talents a chance to showcase what they can do,” Aransiola said.
She noted that Bigi’s partnership with Soundcity is aimed at supporting youth expression and creating memorable campus moments that go beyond product promotion.
For the winners in Ilorin, the competition meant more than the cash prize. It offered visibility, confidence, and a platform to be recognized as emerging voices in Nigeria’s competitive music space.
Savahdor, now the latest campus champion, has joined a growing list of young performers discovered through the Soundcity OnTour platform across the country.
Following the successful outing at UNILORIN, the Soundcity OnTour train is moving to Kwara State University (KWASU) from October 29 to 31, where organizers expect another massive turnout and fresh batch of talents.
At KWASU, students will have the same opportunity to audition, perform, and compete for prizes, as the search for Nigeria’s next campus music star continues.
The tour will continue across other universities in the coming weeks.
