Ngor Okpala /Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency And The Gap That Must Be Filled Come 2019
MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA
The National Assembly has an official website wherein you find the profile and bio-data of all her members in the lower and upper chambers alike. I visited the site in search of what may be described as a final close to my curious enquiry on the viability of my Federal Legislator’s antecedents, records and foreseeable achievements. This turned out to be another depressive episode, that typical act of climbing a coconut tree, plucking the fruit, climb down to crack the shell, only to realise that there was nothing in it after all. Simply put, it was an empty shell.
Hon Bede Eke was born in 1972, finished his secondary education in 1991. By the records he made available for public consumption, he was idle from 1991 to 2003 when he contested and won the State Assembly seat. Then, in 2007 he bagged his controversial 1st degree from the Imo State University as a sitting Legislator. Some say he was known then as “a big boy student”, what this means may not be unconnected with the depth of rot in our educational system. By 2015, Hon Bede Eke contested and won the Federal House seat under questionable circumstances during the corruption laddened days of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
By implication, 12 years after Secondary education, Hon Bede Eke has no credible information of his little beginning. Why this part of his life has remained unstated troubles decent minds. One would have expected his handlers to have concocted some sad stories of a boy who suffered through thick and thin, was involved in one menial job or the other and suddenly luck smiled on him and he became big, then delved into politics. This is not to come for reasons not too different from a pungent antecedent, one that cannot be easily repainted. Some have talked about it in ways that suggest criminal solidarity for a partner, attacking any and everyone who dares to ask for the straight records of Oga Bede.
Ironically, these same folks are shamelessly questioning the CV of an Uche Nwosu who had creditably served at different levels of the Rochas Foundation NGO before delving into political appointments. Faithfully so, that he earned the trust of his principal, the current Governor of Imo State, who has found him worthy to take over the reins of power. The other sad comparison is that Hon Chike Okafor, a serving Federal Legislator, was born in the same year as Hon Bede Eke. However, a peep into his bio on the National Assembly website tells the story of a man who not only explored the frontiers of academic knowledge, but also built a robust career in legitimate undertakings – these are the kind of men in the political bloodline of Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha – not some retired conmen who were just lucky to have escaped the haughty hands of Justice.
The pictures 1 and 2 below tells you the gap that must be filled in Ngor Okpala /Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency by 2019. While pictures 3 and 4 shows you the standard template on how it should be filled.
