Bizman Arrested For Stolen Vehicles

A 45-year old car dealer, Akanbi Abiodun has been arrested and charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s court for allegedly diverting a 40-feet container belong to an importer, Blessing Ogbomo and stole two vehicles inside it.
The incident happened in 2013 at Benin Warehouse located at Odo-Olowu in Ijeshatedo, Lagos.
Abiodun, after stealing those vehicles, bolted away and had been on the run before he was arrested this week.
When Abiodun was arrested, he confessed that he had already sold the vehicle, a truck for N2.1 million and the T4 Volkswagen Transport Bus for N600,000 and had spent the money.
According to police, Abiodun who hails from Ondo State deceived Ogbomo who imported the vehicles that he will get a buyer for the two vehicles and remit the money to him.
The victim then entrusted the vehicles to him and waited to get his money as he promised.
However, Ogbomo waited in vain as Abiodun had sold them and did not contact Ogbomo again and escaped with the money.
The matter was reported to the police who trailed Abiodun for several years until he was arrested recently.
He was charged to court with obtaining and stealing under the Criminal Code.
When Abiodun was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted Abiodun bail in the sum of N500,000 with sureties in like sum.
Abiodun was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 12 December 2016.
