SUNDAY AKINTOYE
The Chairman of Ramond International Football Club of Ifako- Ijaiye, Remi Adebanjo has said thst he formed the grassroots club to assist Nigerian players get offers in Europe and other parts of the world.
Adebanjo in a chat with PM EXPRESS said he did not form the club to feature in grassroots football tourneys in Lagos but to engage the club in invitational football tournaments outside Nigeria. He said many players are rotten in the grassroots but Ramond International FC is formed to assist such rotten talented players to get offers in Europe.
“Let me say it loud and clear that Ramond FC was formed in 2005 but over the years, we have been recruiting players from various clubs in Lagos. Presently, we have a stable team and we are ready to face any club either in the premier or professional league. We have come a long way and time has come for us to blow our trumpet.
“I did not form the club to feature in grassroots football tourneys in Lagos but I formed it so that I can market some players who are marketable. Don’t forget that I am a football agent and I have a contact with some foreign football scouts in Europe and Asia who can get clubs for my players. We are planning to travel to Europe before this year runs out so that we can put some players in market,” he said.
Adebanjo boasted that his club is one of the amateur clubs in Nigeria that pay players training allowance, match bonuses and other incentives that bring the best out the players. He said all the players recruited in the club are well motivated to play with any players in the world.
“Of course we give my players all their necessary things to feel comfortable in the club. We discover that most grassroots players always leave one club for another if there is no motivation but as far Ramond FC are concern, we take the welfare of the players seriously. I even go extra mile to starve myself and my family in order to pay the players their entitlement,” said Adebanjo whose team are preparing for next year’s Lagos State Challenge Cup.
In his own comment, Head coach, Tobi Adetula thanked the club chairman for his financial support and promised that the club won’t disappoint him in an international outing. He boasted that his players are in good frame of mind and ready to confront any team in Nigeria.
“We are planning to have a friendly match with MFM Football Club of Lagos very soon at Agege Stadium and I believe that the friendly match would help my players to prepare them for the future challenges,” he said.
