Mike Ezuruonye’s Comical Flick, ‘Brother Jekwu’ Opens At The Cinemas

After its successful premiere at the IMAX Filmhouse Cinema on Sunday 27 November, ‘Brother Jekwu’, a comical movie produced by talented actor cum producer Mike Ezuruonye is set to open at all the cinemas across Nigeria on Friday 2 December.

The comical movie, which is Ezuruonye’s debut production, is set in Kenya and Nigeria. It focuses on the adventure of travelling abroad in search of greener pastures, love and the beauty of Africa.

Brother Jekwu’ stars Mike Ezuruonye as lead and other stellar cast including Angela Okorie, Wofaifada, Funny Bone, Nedu, Klint D Drunk, Juliet Ochieng, Huddah Monroe and Sabrina Stadler.

Ezuruonye is ‘Brother Jekwu’, a village champion with ‘earthquake English’. He leaves his familiar village in Nigeria and is transported to Kenya to work for a no-nonsense female boss (former Miss Kenya Juliet Ochieng) a mean criminal gang leader who poisons traitors at the dinner table.

As Jekwu lucky to make it to Kenya on the bill of his corrupt cousin (Angela Okorie), he set to work. While on his first but deadly mission with the gang, Jekwu, full of native intelligence was lucky to have escaped a terrible incident as he excused himself to take a leak, his other colleagues were assassinated by an unknown sniper. This frightened incident leads him to a tale of adventure and exploring a new land.

He also had encounter with other folks and two beautiful ladies leading to various comical scenes that add a twist to the story.

Speaking to P.M.EXPRESS at the premiere, Ezuruonye said it’s a refreshing experience for him as a producer and the movie ‘Brother Jekwu’ brought a comical side of him.

He explained that the movie is different from the regular comedy movies in Nollywood as the flick highlights the challenges of leaving one’s homes in search of greener pastures.

Brother Jekwu also stresses on love and showcases the beauty of Africa, its arts and aesthetics while the audiences get amuse by the jokes and witty characters in the movie,” her said.

Brother Jekwu is directed by Charles Uwagbai.
