Zonal Elimination In Ibadan: Lagos Female Volleyball Team Qualify For National Youth Games

Reports from Ibadan, Oyo State, venue of the ongoing zonal elimination for the 5th National Youth Games have it that Team Lagos have qualified for the female volleyball event of the Games.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Zonal Elimination, which is the qualifying tournament for the National Youth Games billed for Ilorin, Kwara State in September, is being contested by South West states; Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo.
The female volleyball team of Team Lagos won their first game on Friday against Team Osun 2-0. Their second game was a walked over against Team Ogun, which gave them six points already, paving way for the qualification for the volleyball event of Ilorin 2019 National Youth Games.
Meanwhile, Cricket matches could hold on Friday due to bad weather condition. Team Lagos female team would play Ekiti, while the male would play Ogun state in the morning on Saturday.
Team Lagos of 142 athletes and 12 coaches with 23 officials are participating in the zonal elimination in events such as Basketball, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey and Volleyball.
The Lagos State Sports Commission is giving the team all support to excel in the zonal contests.
The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafar had urged the athletes before leaving for Ibadan that they should give their best in the six sports at the qualifiers having prepared adequately during their trainings and campings.
