Meet Lagos Famous Plastic Surgeon Helping Female Celebrities Regain Esteem
FUNSHO AROGUNDADE
Tony Rapu is a popular medical doctor and preacher. The senior pastor of House of Freedom understands science and spirituality. When he discusses both, many pay attention because they believe he knows better. Thus, when on Friday November 29, 2019, Rapu dabbled into the controversial plastic surgery, he provoked mixed reactions. The issue has remained controversial, with many often interpreting the practice through religious and moral lens. But for the popular clergy, plastic surgery is not bad as erroneously believed in some quarters.
Rapu explained that the motive for undergoing a plastic surgery is what counts as some undertake plastic surgeries to correct perceived deformities in their body which stifles healthy living.
“The Bible is silent about plastic surgery, and there is really nothing in it that tells us it is wrong. So, there has to be other considerations. If a person is very conscious about a deformity or physical aspect of his or her body that is causing them some emotional discomfort, then cosmetic surgery is certainly an option,” he said.
“There are women who had mastectomies and have had to have breast implants and we know many who have benefitted from surgeries, especially when such is non-invasive and where side effects are minimal. There is really nothing wrong with enhancing the quality of a person’s life by surgery, especially when the person is able to breathe better, walk better or talk better.”
Plastic surgery is a medical term involving partial or complete restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. The two major forms of plastic surgery are reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery.
The pastor’s perspective has opened up many conversations around the practice. But take it or leave it, Liposuction has come to stay in Nigeria. The indulgence in plastic surgery in Nigeria is gradually becoming a trend in the country, especially in Lagos. What many have seen done on E! the cable network channel, by renowned surgeons, like it was far away, it as since become a near home experience.
While there is growing number of skilled doctors trained for the high-risk cosmetic surgeries, one surgeon by name Dr. Ayobami Rasheed Aranmolate —popularly called Dr. Ayo— is the toast of many Nigerian female celebrities.
With many unable to fly to Miami, Florida where a certain popular Lagos on air personality did her initial surgery before coming back to Lagos to correct it after the procedure had issue.
Now instead of all the expense to travel abroad where the rich or well to do who could easily afford it used to go to do those tucks before it became as popular as it is now, the ready made solution is now in Lagos, Nigeria with Dr. Ayo.
And the dude is raking in the cash and smiling to the bank nearly everyday for procedures done.
In fact some say there is like a queue.
In Nigeria, it’s no more just about flushing out the melanin alone invasively to emerge pure white —call it toning or bleaching— now for the ladies, it’s about having an all round, total change of outlook. Specifically, on the Islands of Lagos—Victoria Island, Lekki and Ikoyi axis— there seems to be a battle of who has the prettiest butts. And in the mix is Dr. Ayo with the moniker: “the butt master”. The University of Lagos College of Medicine graduate is one cosmetic surgeon gaining the trust of more and more ladies who want to look different and he has reportedly carried out laser liposuction surgeries for many. The surgical expert, who has also appeared on many talk shows discussing Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery in Nigeria, specializes in fat transfer procedure liposuction and reconstructive surgery.
It was learnt that he has helped many society ladies turned their imperfect aging and sagging bodies into Figure 8 shape that many men long for and help them regain their lost self esteem. When suddenly some ladies known before with flat buttocks, straight hips, no waists, drooping derriere or small boobs suddenly start flaunting new spanking bodies on Instagram with shapes, boobs and roundish butts to die for, then you should know for sure the magic hands of Dr. Ayo has been at work. And unconfirmed list of his clientele is long including notable female socialites and entertainers.
Rumour mills was even abuzz sometime ago with the claim that Afropop diva, Tiwa Savage has had slight work done on her ass and boobs, and that Nollywood sweetheart Genevieve Nnaji has gone under the knives for Botox and Lip injections. This could not be validated probably because of the Hippocratic Oath of the medical practitioners, the needed disclosure was withheld.
However, some of Tiwa’s fans have doubt the claim as they claim her bum at the back is still flat while her boobs still droop. It was claim that if at all she did anything, maybe liposuction and that’s why her hips look more pronounced.
But for controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh, she has no any inhibition revealing that she has passed through the knives of Dr. Ayo. The actress, in an Instagram post early this year has written: “Happy New Year to my surgeon and his crew. Wish you all a great and fulfilled new year, thanks for all you do for humanity. Thanks for letting God use you in my life as a great source of Joy!! For the first time I took my time to appreciate my new body, I cried, I leaped with joy and all I can say is am so ready to conquer the world with my new found confidence. Thank you so much Dr Ayo thanks to all the pretty nurses & doctors (recovery center) Super thanks to my Executive producer you are awesome honey, love you so much Mama. Thanks.”
Cosmetic surgery like all surgeries carries a risk and death, but the causalities have been very minimally here. Save for the unfortunate case of a former beauty queen, the statistic has shown that it’s safer with well trained hands like Dr. Ayo.
Dr. Ayo, said to be in his early 40s, is the Medical Director and CEO of Grandville Medical and Laser. A Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Center Located in Lagos, Nigeria. After his education at Unilag College of Medicine, he had his post graduate residency education training in Burns and Plastic Surgery and now a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeon(Plastic Surgery). He has also had training in burns and wound care at St.Elizabeth Regional burn center, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. In addition,he had training in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Akademikliniken, an Aesthetic Plastic Surgery clinic in Stockholm, Sweden.
