Lagos Is Drugs Free, Gafaar Warns Athletes Ahead Edo 2020 NSF

The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafàar has assured that the participation of Team Lagos in the 2020 National Sports Festival in Edo State will be drugs free.

To this end, he warned athletes of Team Lagos to stay away from using drugs to compete at the sports festival which holds from 20 March – 2 April.

Gafaar told P.M. EXPRESS that in order to ensure that no drug is found in the body system of any of the Lagos athletes, the Sports Commission has ordered regular medical check ups for all the athletes at their closed camp currently going on.

“I can assure you that Lagos is drugs free. We are going to compete clean at the festival in Edo State. We will leave nothing to chance to ensure that none of our athletes engage in doping to win medals for the state. We are above that and our resolve going to the festival is to present our best for us to get the best at the end of the championship,” Gafaar said.

No fewer than 680 athletes of Team Lagos have been on closed camp since 9 March at Agbowa Relief  Camp, Ikorodu and the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. 

Team Lagos will compete in 40 Sports that comprise eight tam sports and 32 individual sports at this year’s National Sports Festival in Edo State
