Prophetess In Police Net Over Death Of Pregnant Woman

A popular Prophetess of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Mrs. Evelyn Owoleke, has landed in trouble in Lagos after she reportedly took a 39-year old pregnant woman, Mrs. Seun Olorunto, to her Church to be delivered of the baby and she died in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bayo Ajao Street, Aboru area of Lagos, where the Church is located.
Prophetess Owoleke has been arrested and she is now undergoing interrogation over the death of the deceased and may likely face murder charge which attracts life imprisonment if she is tried and found guilty for the alleged offence.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who confirmed that the Prophetess is in Police custody.He said that on 4th May, 2020, at about 1950 hours, one Olaloye Jolayemi ‘f’ of Ologundudu Street Aboru reported at Oke Odo Police Station that on 4th May, 2020, at about 1000hrs one Seun Olorunto ‘f’ 39 years old died after she was delivered of a baby boy by one Prophetess Evelyn Owoleke ‘f’ at Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Bayo Ajao Street Aboru.
DSP Elkana explained that based on the information, homicide detectives visited the scene and found the woman lying in the pool of her blood.He said that preliminary investigation suggested that the deceased person might have bled to death due to complications during and after the child birth without any medical attention. He said that the corpse was removed from the Church to General Hospital Yaba for autopsy report to determine what actually caused her death while the infant was taken to hospital for medical examination and care. Elkana revealed that the suspect, Prophetess Owoleke, who is a traditional/spiritual midwife was arrested and taken to State CID Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation on the matter.
