An Igbo leader, High Chief Livinus Ezenwa, has frowned and advised the Igbo leaders in Lagos State to stop washing their dirty linens in the public and use Igbo settlement mechanism to resolve any rift amongst them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ezenwa stated this on the heels of the lingering power tussle between Chief Joe Igbokwe and Hon. Jude Idimogu over Apex leader in APC in Lagos.
Ezenwa stated that he was not taking side with any of the factions for now but expressed worry that such tussle was not for the interest of Igbo in Lagos because it will divide the Igbo more.
Ezenwa expressed worry over the kind of leaders Igbo had, which he described as lacking the capacity to control the Igbo otherwise this kind of ugly situation would have not come up between Idimogu and Igbokwe.
“My advice to the parties is for them to sit down with all the stakeholders including traditional rulers to resolve the crises especially now the Igbo needs to unite more to pursue common interest” Ezenwa said.
He further said that he was passionate about the cause of Igbo and that was why he joined APC and had been participating in APC programmes both during and after elections. He noted that every Igbo will not join the same political party stressing that what is important in any party one joins is to protect the cause of Igbo.
He also regretted that some aspects of Igbo culture and tradition were dying gradually and blamed the parents for such negligence and pleaded that all hands must be on deck to restore the Igbo culture.
Ezenwa also advised the Igbo living in Lagos to maintain peace, obey the laws of the State and live peacefully with their neighbours despite the difference in ethnicity and religion.
