This may not be the best of times for factional Ohanaeze President, Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, after he wrote petition to the Nigeria Police alleging that five prominent Igbo leaders were kidnappers and had wanted to kill him over the leadership crisis in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that leaders labeled as kidnappers were Chief John Uche, who is the pioneer President of Ohanaeze, Lagos Chapter, Chief Mrs. Evelyn Okere Unyong, Barrister Vincent Osakwe, Pastor Okey Anorue and Kalu Ugwuru.

The suspects were taken to FCIID, Alagbon, for interrogation following an invitation sent to them and signed by CSP Ken Nwosu where the Police reportedly discovered that it was a mere leadership crisis but Chief Ogbonna labeled them as kidnappers who wanted to kill him.

What has become a problem for Chief Ogbonna is now how to prove that the suspects were kidnappers and wanted to eliminate him, which amounts to false information to the Police if he is not able to substantiate the allegations against the suspects.

The development has turned the Ohanaeze Ndigbo into two faction; one led by Chief Ogbonna with Retired Colonel Rubean Nwakor leading another faction in the State.

Narrating what happened, Chief Uche said they received invitation from the FCIID, Alagbon in Ikoyi, Lagos, over the petition written by Chief Ogbonna alleging that they wanted to kill him and linked them to the people that killed former President of Ohanaeze, Lagos State, late Chief John Nzewi.

He said those linked in the petition were respected leaders in various capacities and had served Ndigbo meritoriously but were stunned by the allegations which he was unable to prove.

He said the petition was informed by the disagreement over leadership tussle within Lagos State but Chief Ogbonna went too far to label them kidnappers and wanted to use the Police against the opponent but God intervened the Police saw the truth.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been in crisis following the outcome of the election which threw the Igbo in Lagos into crisis. Some were with Chief Solomon while others, who did not agree with the manner the election was conducted have since declared support for Nwakor.

The matter has gone to the Apex leadership of Ohanaeze worldwide led by Chief John Nwodo and Chief Solomon Ogbonna was asked to present his WAEC certificate and he presented one which was said to have been forged.

When Chief Solomon Ogbonna was contacted for his comments over matter, he started threatening the reporter and switched off his phone.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the Ohanaeze faction in Lagos had already passed vote of no confidence on Chief Ogbonna, wants Nwakor to lead them and had made the resolution known to Apex Ohanaeze worldwide in Enugu State.
