Marriage And All Of The Twists (1)
MORACK AKIN-DAVID

Marriage largely determines the life trajectory of an average person. It is a status that every normal human longs to attain but only few can retain without constraints. Marriage is not for kids and I am not talking about age. Marriage is a journey and the road can most times be so rough.
Though the scriptures advice that it is better to marry than to burn in fire of infatuation, yet, I venture to say very frankly that it is also better not to marry than to marry and be miserable! There are those who blindly dabble into marriage without counting the cost, claiming that love was blind. They will soon know that love can grow wings and fly out through the roof, when challenges erupt like volcano.
“God forbid!” you may muse, but tell me of a marriage that isn’t confronted with challenges and I will tell you that the couple is still having their honeymoon in Jupiter! I just wonder at those who go around town claiming that their marriages have been all the bed of roses, all fun, no pinch, no pitch and stitch, no stretch, no wink, no hush…and everything has ever been seamless. Sure, but there are few of them globally. Others aren’t telling us the whole truth!
Nobody says yours isn’t among the few, but we know that today’s marriages are faced with peculiar complexities. Interestingly, marriage institution has no provision for an exit door, except you break the roof or wall. Yet, that shouldn’t make anyone mistaken marriage for a cage. It only becomes a cage when your marriage is not properly managed. And you can’t come out again, except you damage the cage.
