Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Command in Lagos have arrested a 40-year old woman, Mrs. Happiness Chukwunonso, for allegedly getting two boys for adoption and it later turned out that the children were stolen.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ojo area of Lagos where Mrs. Happiness was arrested alongside her alleged accomplice, Cecilia Ngozi Obi, who was said to have stolen the children aged 7 and 4 with another suspect, Adamu Nahum, now at large and sold to Happiness.

However, the information leaked, the victims were rescued and the suspects, Mrs Happiness and Cecilia, were arrested for interrogation in order to explain how they got the children.

It was during interrogation that the whole thing got exposed. Happiness was said to have needed children since she was unable to conceive and contacted Cecilia. Cecilia in turn contacted Adamu Nahum from the Northern part of the country.
They brought the children, now confirmed to have been stolen by the Police, and sold them to Mrs. Happiness for an undisclosed amount of money before the information leaked.

The suspects were later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty before Court.
The prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, then asked the Court to give a date for trial to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail because the offence was bailable and ordered them to be remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

However, the matter has suffered several adjournments due to Covid-19 lockdown and the trial could not go on.
