I Became A Thief Two Years Ago When My Business Collapsed -Convict

A four-time convicted thief, Jerry Kirikorite has confessed that he decided to turn to stealing other people’s property two years ago after his business collapsed and had been so unlucky to revive it.
24-year old Kirikorite stated this at the Isolo Magistrate’s court where he confessed that he was a thief and pleaded guilty.
He said he had been arrested three times and convicted same times in different courts during the period he started stealing.
Kirikorite was convicted for the fourth time on Friday with a sentence to do community service by the court.
Ondo State-born Kirikorite said he learnt dry cleaning work but was unlucky as people did not patronise him and to survive, he decided to turn to stealing.
Kirikorite was arrested and charged before court for break and entry and he pleaded guilty.
The convict who reside at Akesan area of Lagos admitted that he burgled Barrister Sola Igbalajobi’s house at Pacific Estate in Akesan and stole DVD player, weighing and washing machines worth N150.000.
The prosecutor, Mr A.U. Ojei during fact and sentence, informed the court that it was while he was escaping that he was apprehend and handed over to the police at Igando division.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi found him guilty and sentence him to community service for four hours.
The court also warned him that he will write an undertaken that he will not steal again and if he’s ever brought to the court again, he will serve a longer sentence.
When our correspondent contacted Kirikorite, he said he will try not steal again.
He explained that he actually started stealing when he lost his parents and there was no help.
