Facts have emerged on how daredevil armed robbers ambushed, hijacked a bullion van loaded with money, carted away millions of Naira and escaped in Lagos.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who alleged that the attack on a bullion van last week Thursday at Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, could be a case of conspiracy considering the fact that they were moving without escort.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the bullion van, belonging to a new generation bank, was hijacked by daredevil armed robbers and they escaped with the loot. The total amount looted from the van was not known as the bank management has refused to disclose the amount. But sources said it was in hundreds of millions of Naira.

The robbers were said to have trailed the bullion van from the cash collection point at a mall until it got to a lonely road along Ado, Ajah area of the state, before they struck.

However, what surprised the Police was how the bullion van left the bank without any escort, which raised suspicion over the attack.

The Police boss, Odumosu, made his suspicion known while parading suspected hoodlums at the command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

In his words, “Ajah incident is being investigated and we discovered that the bullion van was waylaid. They created that environment for it to happen. You don’t move a bullion van with money without armed escort in the front and behind. There was no single escort. There was no physical reaction to that action, which shows that it is a premeditated one. Notwithstanding, actions had been taken because the law of the land was violated. Investigation has commenced and at the end of the day the facts will be made public”.

Meanwhile, the Police intelligence were said to have intensified efforts to apprehend those behind the act but it was not clear yet if any arrest has been made by the Police.
