Speaking during the presentation yesterday at the Board’s car-park, the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Kunle Yusuff (MON), noted that OyoSUBEB has contributed immensely to basic education in Nigeria. This is one of the reasons Oyo state is considered as one of the beneficiaries of this kind gesture.

The SSA on SDGs further urged teachers to include the books in school curricula, so as to catch them young on the essence of 17 global goals of SDGs.

Yusuff noted that the materials will aid relevant and sustainable skills, with the use of up to date instructional materials in public schools in Nigeria.

He further noted that the “talk-chalk method” of teaching has not been effective, but with deployment of proper teaching aids, learners’ interests will be aroused.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran while thanking SDGs noted that Universal Basic Education programme guarantees a qualitative education that ensures acquisition of relevant and sustainable skills.

He further stated that the use of instructional materials will help provide variations in the ways of teaching, as well as increase the cognitive development of learners.

Adeniran said “the board will ensure the teaching/learning materials and sporting equipment reach the expected schools”.

He added that, “we will also ensure effective use of the materials by teachers and learners to enhance increased learning achievements and holistic development of learners”.
