Breaking: 4 Police Officers Die In Auto Crash In Lagos

Tradegy struck on Sunday after four police officers had a fatal accident and died in the process in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The identity of the officers was not yet disclosed by the police authority who said the late officers were attached at to X Squad of the Police Command at Ikeja.
The incident has been confirmed by the Lagos Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famos Cole.
According to a press release, Cole said the officers while on surveillance and patrol duty along Isiwu road, Imota Ikorodu area of Lagos State were involved in a fatal motor accident which left four of them in the patrol truck dead.
He said five policemen who were in a Nissan frontier van with registration number NPF 409 D were hit by a 911 tipper lorry with no registration number, while the driver who cannot be identified at the time of this report fled the scene.
He said both vehicle were coming from opposite direction at a point near Isiwu town and they collided. Cole disclosed that three policemen died on the spot, while traffic policemen were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Cole said an ASP and Inspector who sustained serious injuries were rescued and rushed to LASUTH, Ikeja where one of them later died. The other is currently admitted and under intensive care unit at the Hospital.
He said the corpses of the officers have been deposited at General Hospital Ikorodu and LASUTH, Ikeja for autopsy and the police patrol truck and tipper lorry have been towed to the division as investigation is on going to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Cole said Lagos State Police Command mourns the death of its finest officers who died in active duty, adding the Police Command would leave nothing to chance to bring justice to the lost souls.
He advised the general public to come forward with any useful information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the fleeing suspect and urge Lagosians to be very cautious and alert while driving on the roads.
