Chairman of the Lagos State Judo Association,  Olatunji Disu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has described the death of former judo star Lukman Jinadu as a “severe blow to Nigerian judo”.

In a condolence message to the family of the late judo star, Disu said the news of Jinadu’s death came to him as a shock.

According to him “The news of Lukman Jinadu’s death came to me as a rude shock; in fact his death was least expected because at 60 years, he was young and still full of  life”.

The association chairman noted that as a judoka, Jinadu was a worthy ambassador of Lagos State who won several laurels.  “In his active years, Lukman Jinadu represented our great state in several competitions and won a lot of honours”, Disu remarked.

While praying that God should grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss, Disu said they  should take solace in the fact that Lukman though died young left indelible impressions in the sands of time.

The former national judo champion died on November 22 in London, the United Kingdom capital at the age of 60.
