Police operatives from Ejigbo Division under the Lagos State Command have arrested a 35-year old man, Ugochukwu Onuolisa, who reportedly falsely recruited himself into the Nigerian Military.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Onuolisa, was accosted at NNPC junction, Ejigbo area of Lagos, during routine monitoring and he told the Police Officers that he was enlisted in the Nigerian Military and presented himself to be so.
The Police then interrogated him to actually know if he was a Military personnel as he had claimed and it turned out he was fake. He was then taken to the Police Station for further investigation.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that during investigation, Onuolisa confessed that the Military Authority did not recruit him as he claimed, that he only recruited himself into the Military and was using it to get favours from the security agents.
Having been found culpable by the Police, he was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for impersonation.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Onuolisa was remanded in Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions and the matter was adjourned till 20th January, 2021, for mention.
