This may not be the best of times for the former Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ngozi Braide, after a lady reportedly swindled her N3.7m at a popular beauty and cosmetics store.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Vadang Beauty & Cosmetics Store located at Maryland area of Lagos, where the suspect, Chinyere Livina Awuru, reportedly obtained items worth the said amount from CSP Ngozi Braide, who was said not to have recovered from the shock.

The 44-year old Chinyere Awuru has been arrested.

Though, the Police from Ikeja Division, who handled the matter, did not state how Ngozi Braide had close contact with the suspect, Awuru, to have had the opportunity to defraud her to the tune of the amount in question.

However, the Police alleged that the suspect, Chinyere Livina Awuru, stole women’s hair worth N1.1m, wrist watch worth N1.6m and men accessories worth N1m, which all belonged to Ngozi Braide.

She was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, then asked the Court to give a date enable the Police to prove that the defendant actually committed the alleged offence.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Adegun, granted Chinyere Awuru bail and ordered her to be remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town in Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 10th March, 2021. Efforts to reach Braide proved abortive as her known number was switched off.
