The Traditional leader of Ndigbo in Lagos State, also known as Ezendigbo, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, has directed all the ethnic traditional rulers in all the Local Government areas in the State to stay in their palaces as efforts are being made by the Government to give them stipends as they play advisory role to politicians in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwachukwu stated this during the APC Igbo Congress held at the Igbo Community Centre in Okota, Lagos, where Chief Anselm Njoku was elected as Igbo APC Chairman in Lagos State.

Nwachukwu stated that the Government should provide the incentives to traditional rulers, which will enable them to stay in their palaces while playing their roles as royal fathers to the people including politicians for the maintenance of peace in the State.

He stated that all the traditional rulers endorsed the election of Chief Njoku as Chairman of Igbo APC in Lagos State and directed all the Igbo in APC to give Njoku their support and advised him to always work for the interest of Igbo in the State.

The Congress, which witnessed the presence of Igbo sons and daughters from all the 57 LCDAs in the State, was attended by top Igbo leaders in APC.

Those in attendance included: The Honourable Lagos State House of Assembly member, Chief Jude Idimogu, Igbo APC BOT Chairman, Chief Anselm Udoka, Barrister Christopher Okonkwo, Secretary, Igbo APC in Lagos, Emeka Amaraegbu, Youth leader, Barrister Leo Ikeagwu, Southeast APC Forum, Barr. Carol MBA, APC treasurer and many others.

In an address read by Hon. Jude Idimogu with caption: Critical Stakeholders on the Chairmanship of Ndigbo in APC, it stated as follows:
“We have watched with dismay the arrogation of Eze Uche Dimgba, to himself as the Executive Coordinator of Ndigbo in APC, Lagos State. He claimed to have been anointed by Apex leader, Engr. Joe Igbokwe. We hereby state as follows:
“It is a discretion, absurdity, sacrilegious and rape of custom and tradition of both Yoruba and Igbo land for an Eze to lead a political party or its pressure group.”

“After due consultation with the Council of Traditional rulers, Ohanaeze, Igbo Speaking Community, Market traders and other Igbo groups, they not only con,ed the act but directed that it should be corrected and get a replacement.”

“In further compliance with the directive of Lagos State APC headed by the Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, in the presence of one of the GAC leaders, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, on 24th September, 2020, in the presence of some Igbo leaders, the directive that all Igbo traditional rulers should go back to their palaces as advisers and should not hold political party positions is hereby complied.”

The address stated that since the critical stakeholders have already nominated Chief Anselm Njoku as Chairman of Igbo in APC in alternative, the Congress was held to ratify and endorse him. He was endorsed without any opposition, which he accepted and promised to unite and bring innovative ideas to bring Ndigbo together in APC.
