A 54-year old man, Segun Olowokere, arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year old down syndrome patient, has denied that he did anything with the girl, stating that he only inserted his finger into her private part.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Kusa Street, Pedro area of Bariga, Lagos where they reside.

Olowokere has been arrested and detained by the Police operatives from Gender Unit, Shomolu Division, Lagos, where he is undergoing interrogation over the dastardly act.

The suspect, who hails from Modakeke in Osun State, is a civil servant working as a porter at University of Lagos.

He was arrested after a mandate reporter got hint of the abuse and contacted the Police and he was detained at the Station, where he was being interrogated over the act.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the suspect told the DPO that the girl told him that she was wearing a red pant and he requested to see it. And from there, he inserted his finger into her private part before he was caught by their neighbours.

The victim was said to have cried and pointed at her private part, stating that Olowokere touched her bum.

When he was detained, the Police were busy obtaining his statement before the father of the victim arrived as he was said to have gone to work when the incident happened.

According to a Police source, the insertion of finger into the private part is penetration, as such Olowokere may likely be charged before the Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty.
