It was a terrible incident and experience for the the family and friends of Onamade in Okeletu, Ijede Local Government Area of Ikorodu as some recognized cultists and hoodlums in their numbers on Friday 16th April, 2021, invaded the premises of Western Funeral Home, the work place and office of an All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanship aspirant in Ijede, Ikorodu and unleashed mayhem on the aspirant, killed a worker and injured his brother.
Addressing a Press conference after the traumatic experience at his office in Abule Eko in Ijede LCDA, Onamade, who is a mortician, called on the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Aikali Baba and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, for Police protection and proper investigation of the incident.
Onamade, who shared his experience, said, “This is a terrible incident, which i have never seen in my life before. I am a devoted member of APC. Some time last year, that would be in November 2020, some hoodlums, thugs and cult boys were sent by a leader to kill me but they didn’t succeed. I reported this matter severally with petition to the Police”.
“Three weeks ago, one of them by name Segun Oyebanjo, was apprehended, charged to Court and remanded in Kirikiri prison.”
According to him, the suspect, confessed to have been sponsored by one Alhaji Salisu Fatti, which matter is still ongoing because the suspect is still in the custody of the judicial.
Onamade also alleged that Alhaji Salisu had sponsored thugs to vandalise his posters six month ago. He said to have reported the incident at the Police Station and also called the attention of all the community leaders, traditional rulers and members of the board in the community to come to his aid and to let them know what was going on within the community. Onamade said that the elders begged him and promised to settle the issue amicably only for the recent attack that led to the killing of an innocent person.
According to Onamade, the gunmen invaded the premises of his work place, vandalised his office, killed one of his workers, Mr. Tony Godfrey and wounded many others including his brother Femi Onamade, who is in coma at one of the General Hospitals. They carted away several properties, which included his laptop and N1.7m he took to the office.
Narrating his ordeal, Onamade revealed that the hoodlums numbering about 35 stormed his Western Funeral Homes Limited office along Ijede Road in Ikorodu, Lagos, with dangerous weapons. He said that they shot sporadically before carrying out their heinous acts.

The APC chieftain maintained that he was only lucky to have escaped miraculously after being beaten mercilessly; he managed to escape and hid himself in one of the vaults in the premises, where he managed to make a distress call to the Ijede Police Station, who promptly came and dislodged them.
He also disclosed that his blood brother, Oluwafemi Onamade, was shot and maliciously beaten to coma. Late Godfrey, who also tried to escape, was cut with machete, shot severally and they dump his corpse in an empty vault in the premise while others escaped with machete and gun wounds.
He however, called on the Federal and Lagos State Governments, that as a law abiding citizen, they should come to his aid and intervene in the case so as to reduce more blood shed and save lives.
“I was attacked personally and gracefully survived it about six months ago when many thugs had confronted me face to face and threatened to kill me and started vandalizing my chairmanship posters at the Local Government with warnings to stop contesting with the opponent. Whenever I meet with his brother, he always repeats his threat to kill me to my face if I don’t stop contesting with his brother” Onamade said.
The APC chieftain, who is demanding Justice, is also appealing to the IGP, Lagos State CP, the State Government and Nigerians to come to his rescue and give the issue an argent attention at this point because before the heinous incident, series of petitions had been written to the Police, DSS and the APC Executives regarding the issue.
