Gafaar Reiterates Lagos Govt’s Determination To Develop Sports At The Grassroots

Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar has reiterated the determination of the Lagos State Government to develop sports at the grassroots.
He said this during the draws ceremony for the 2020/2021 Eko Football League held at the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) Office , Ogunlana Drive, Surulere.
Gafaar disclosed that with the draws ceremony, which heralds the Kick off of the League, he is happy that football is back in Lagos.
“This is football , this is Lagos. We need to do everything humanly possible to bring Football back to Lagos , like the Oba’s Cup, Challenge Cup and many more.
“There are times that football was Lagos . Lagos State Government is ready to support any initiative to bring back to Lagos football as it was in the case in the 70s and 80s. This is good for grassroots development,” he said.
Chairman, Lagos State Football Association who is also the Vice President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi thanked the Lagos State Sports Commission for continuing backing Lagos Football Association.
“We want to raise the standard of our League and also to use the Eko Football League to create opportunities for our young ones to keep everybody busy .
“We want to bring football back to Lagos by going back to the Old Lagos as far as Football is concerned.”
He warned that any team that misbehaves during the League will be dealt with .
“We are going to ensure fairness, but misbehaving teams shall be sanctioned,” he said.
Present at the press briefing / draws ceremony were, the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar, Chairman, Lagos State Football Association, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, General Manager, Lagos Neighborhood Corps , Ifalade Oyekan, Chairman Badagry Divisional Football Association and lkorodu Divisional Football Association and a host of others.
