Lagos Govt Special Loan: Filmmakers To Access From N3m To N40m
Nollywood veteran and chairman of the Committee in charge of the administration of the special interest-free loan recently inaugurated by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Richard Mofe-Damijo has said that it will start accepting applications from interested persons soon.
Speaking recently at the committees’ deliberations on the modalities for the disbursement of the loan and other requirements, urged persons interested in the Special Fund to allow the Committee to perfect its preliminary plans and arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
He said, “All interested filmmakers are notified that the Committee shall shortly be accepting applications as soon as all
relevant modalities are concluded”.
RMD informed interested practitioners that the categories of loan available under the Special Fund vary from N3m to N40m, adding that the gesture is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the Lagos State Government, especially the Entertainment and Tourism pillar, being implemented through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) and
Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI).
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently initiated an intervention project that will jump-start the transformation of the Entertainment and Tourism sector with the inauguration of a Committee on Film Production Empowerment at the State House, Marina, to fund youth creativity and entertainment activities in the State.
The move, according to the Governor, followed the disruption caused by the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) that impacted negatively on the entertainment and tourism sectors in the State.
Apart from RMD, other industry veterans in the committee include ace cinematographer, Tunde Kelani, a Film and Television Producer, Ms. Mo Abudu, Movie Director, Mr. Kunle Afolayan and Mrs. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe
The Government officials in the committee are Adebukola Agbaminoja, Ferdinand Tinubu, Taju Olajumoke and Funke Avoseh.
