How Senator Ekwunife Relocated Family From Mud House To A Brand New Home In Umuoji

Sunday, the 23rd of May, 2021 would go down as a memorable day for Mrs Chinenye Okoye, wife of the visually impaired beneficiary of Senator Uche Ekwunife 3-Bedroom bungalow projects for the less privileged. Mrs Okoye’s life took a new turn as Senator Ekwunife handed over the keys of a house she completed for her and her husband amidst excitement and uncontrollable tears of joy by family members, friends and well-wishers.

Ekwunife who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 9th Senate noted that the housing project constructed for Mr and Mrs Okoye of Anogu village Umuoji, Idemili North LGA, was part of her commitment to uplift the living standards of constituents and take dividends of democracy down to the poorest of the poor.

Speaking at the event, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator thanked the entire Umuoji community for their continuous solidarity and prayers in her political aspirations. She reassured of her commitment to complete at least two developmental projects in all the communities in the zone, adding that time has come when governance should be left in the hands of people who are driven by ideas and empathy.

Welcoming the Senator, the President General of Umuoji community, Chief Onyima Sly noted that the entire community are proud of Ekwunife’s representation on the floor of the senate. According to him, Ekwunife is the most active female Senator in the 9th Assembly.

Recalling what happened when he visited the 3-bedroom bungalow, Chief Onyima stated that tears of joy rolled down his cheek in appreciation of the Senator’s good works. While describing the edifice as befitting and wonderful, the PG assured that the Umuoji community would not fail to reward Ekwunife for her special interventions in the community.

On her part, the beneficiary, Mrs. Okoye, who visibly battled to contain her emotions appreciated Ekwunife for what she described as an uncommon gesture. She thanked God for using the Senator to erect the beautiful edifice for her family. Mrs. Okoye noted that she never thought that her family would be remembered and built a house.

Earlier before the commissioning, Ekwunife led her entourage to pay homage to the traditional ruler of the Umuoji community. She thanked the traditional ruler for the warm reception, adding that she will continue to partner with the traditional institution to drive the development of the state.

Speaking, the regent, Ichie Dr. Chris Nnedu described Ekwunife as a wonderful woman who knows the Igbo culture and tradition, appreciating that she visited the palace before proceeding with her other activities in the community. Dr. Nnedu thanked Ekwunife for always remembering the less privileged in the society and for the road project she attracted to the Umuoji community. He prayed God to bless Ekwunife and materialize her governorship aspiration.

Notably present were members of the Igwe cabinet, former PG of Umuoji, Chief Ken Mbanefo, Umuoji PDP Ward Chairman, Arinze Nweje, Deputy Ward Chairman, Mike Okoye, Ward Secretary, Tony Elechukwu, Ward Women leader, Ngozi Akamnonu, Idemili North LGA Organising Secretary, Casmir Ndulue, Ward Youth leader, Nonso Udo, Ex Officio, Bernard Okafor amongst others.
