May 30th Is A Day Of Solemnity…

Posted on May 30, 2021

To many of us — passive recipients of the Nigerian civil war history — some of the tales only make sense in abstraction to us. We neither have an experience of the carnage, nor do we hold any mental picture of the magnitude of loss it left behind.
To Soludo, the scar left by the war remains indelible on him. He was just 8years old when he lost his dear Mum to the attendant Societal dysfunction occasioned by the war. So, when you speak about remembering our fallen heroes, and the need to accord them a befitting right of remembrance, Soludo is among the few who can relate with it in many ways.

Like Ojukwu acceded in an interview with Journalists after the war, Soludo continues to maintain that it will amount to enormous disrespect to the memory of our heroes and heroines if we contemplate another war  without thinking first of the prosperity of our homeland.

What we owe our heroes past is to ensure that their labours are not in vain, not to repeat a gruesome history like those who are “ever learning without coming to the understanding of the truth”.

In line with the first memorial ever organized by any Southern State Government, we join His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano’s call to Ndigbo as we say, “OZOEMEZINA”.
