The Chairman of Motorcycle operators and owners association, Ijora Olopa Branch, Tahiru Bauchi, has landed in trouble after he collected about N250,000 from members to bribe the Lagos State Task Force over seized motorcycles and he was duped in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that his members are now accusing him of defrauding them, which he denied and claiming he gave the money to one Abudulaho Alli to bribe the Task Force in order to secure the release of the motorcycles.

On the other hand, Alli claimed he was also duped at Task Force office when he went to secure the release of the motorcycles by an unknown personnel there believed to be agents hovering around at Task Force office at Oshodi.

Accordingly to Alli, he has been going to the Task Force office in order to secure release of seized motorcycles, was contacted by Bauchi and he was defrauded.

However, the matter was reported to the Police and Alli was arrested. He was later charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for fraud under false pretence of securing the release of motorcycles from the Task Force.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Jimah Iseghede, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.O. Ikobayo, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till 7th September, 2021.

However, the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
