Students Share Experience As Lagos Sports Summer Camp Reach Day 3

The venue, Badagry Junior Secondary School at Badagry Oja has been a beehive of activities since Sunday when the first phase of 2021 Lagos Sports Summer Camp commenced.

The excitement was seeing in the eyes and mood of the participating students with the way they have been responding to their coaches in various sports.

The fact that they are doing something outside their normal daily routines, especially during the holiday, is a thing of joy for the students, who ware drawn from both public and private schools in the state within Lagos West Senatorial District for the first leg of the camping.

Some of the students who spoke with P.M. EXPRESS were delighted with what the sports loving Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is giving them through the Lagos State Sports Commission with the initiative of the summer camp, which started in 2019 and taking to the next level in the 2021 edition.

According to a female participant, Ayomide Akin-Idowu, a 14-year-old student of Badagry Senior Grammar School. “I am happy to be here and my area of interest is to learn the game of Scrabble and as well as to learn Make-Up.

“My first two days have been so eventful. It has been a lot of activities and I am very happy to be part of this experience.

“I want to thank the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for making this happen. Thank you sir.”

Fawole Adegoke, a 12-year-old male student of Grimos International College, Alagbado, Lagos said:   My two days so far have been full of fun, music, good food and conducive environment”.

” So far, I am enjoying myself and hoping to go back home by learning new things that can be a life changer to me”.

” I am eagerly waiting to learn how to make Power Bank and Power Bank Battery at the end of this Lagos Sports Summer Camp”.

“Thanks to Lagos State Government for organizing this at no cost “.

Omoregie Mobolaji, 14, of Holyway Schools, Meiran, Lagos said he is interested in Fives Sports and also want to learn the vocation of how to make Power Bank.

“I just want to say that I am very excited and happy to be here and I am going to make use of all the opportunity that will come my way at this Camp.”

“In just two days that I have been here, I can say that I am beginning to learn new things.”

In her opinion, Fatile Ruth Olubunmi, 12-year-old student of Badagry Junior Grammar School, Lagos Sports Summer Camp is a place to be.

“My coming here is per chance, my friend told me that there is going to be a Sports Summer Camp here in Badagry and asked me to be part of it. I am happy that I am part of this very educative and informative camping.

“At this Lagos Sports Summer Camp, I am participating in Board Game.

“Thank you to Lagos State Governor for organizing this”.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that participants aged 9-14 (about 120 students)  are being exposed to Athletics (Track and Field), Basketball, Chess, Darts, Judo, Karate, Scrabble, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

For the Life Skill activities at the Camp, all participants were divided according to their areas of interest such as Artwork, Art and Craft, Tie and Dye, Makeup, Hairdressing, Hat Making as well as how to make a Power Bank and Power Bank Battery.

The first phase ends on Saturday, 21 August, the second and third phases will come up from 22nd August to 28th August ( Ikorodu )and from 29th August to 4th September (Surulere) respectively.
