A 69-year old landlady, Mrs. Rose Ibe, has landed in trouble in Lagos after she reportedly broke keys to the three bedroom apartment of her tenant, Boyede Sunday and threw out his properties in order to rent out the flat to another person.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ololade Street, New Oko-Oba area of Lagos State, where the house is located.

The landlady, Mrs. Ibe, has been arrested over her conduct while her husband, Christopher, was said to be at large.

The Police did not state if the tenant, Sunday, was owing arrears of rent, which may have prompted the landlady to have decided to illegally eject him.

According to Police sources, she was said to have decided to do so by not following the law, which she said would take longer period to eject him.

However, her action has led to her arrest and arraignment before Ogba Magistrates Court for deliberately using an object to break the key to the tenant’s flat and parking his property out.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for her trial for the Police to prove she actually committed the alleged offence since she pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J.A. Adegun, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum while ordering her remand in correctional centre at Kirikiri town pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
The matter was further adjourned till 7th September, 2021, for mention.
