Ooni of Ife’s Royal Gifts To Nigerian Communities, Provides ‘Free Water For All’ For People In Lagos, Ogun States

Two communities in South-West Nigeria have received what can be described as ‘royal benevolence’ when the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II), provided one of the social amenities the people have been lacking for years.

The Ooni of Ife, through his charity organization, Hopes Alive Initiative (HAI), recently reached out to Nigerians in Pakuro community in Owode-Ofada Local Government, Ogun State and Iwaya in Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State with unsolicited water projects as part of His royal involvement in alleviating the suffering of the people.

The two projects were coordinated and delivered by Princess Adesegun Temitope, the Deputy Chief Convener of Hopes Alive Initiative and were commissioned on behalf of Ooni of Ife by Alara Oodaye of Ara land, Ife Kingdom, His Highness, Oba Adebisi Segun Layade (Aderotimi 1).

At the commissioning of the water project for the Pakuro Community, the day was a beehive of activities as the residents trooped out to witness what they described as a new dawn. Chairman of Unity Avenue Community Development Association (CDA), Pakuro, Mr Ayodele Daniel Coker eulogized Ooni of Ife for his generosity and finding the community worthy of what they did not solicit for.

“It came as a surprise to us when we were informed that our community has been chosen for this borehole project that will provide us with a basic thing we are lacking for years. The commissioning of this project signifies a new dawn for the people, and we are so much grateful to His Imperial Majesty, we can only pray to God to grant him many more years for him to be able to affect people positively as he has been doing,” he said.

Oba Layade, who performed the commissioning of the project on behalf of Ooni of Ife, urged the people to make the best use of the borehole for it to serve as a source of water for them for a very long time, adding that maintenance of the facility is very important.

“I want to tell you people that we are so glad to have Ooni. He is a king who does things according to the inspirations and the direction of God. I want to advise the CDA that this facility should be properly monitored for it to last for you.

“We all know that government cannot do it alone, that is the reason spirited Nigerians should rise up to assist in giving this kind of amenity and many others to the people. Ooni of Ife is a royal father who loves all irrespective of status, ethnic and religious backgrounds,” the royal father said.

Princess Adesegun, Deputy Chief Convener of Hopes Alive Initiative, said Ooni Ogunwusi is so passionate about the welfare of his subjects and a royal father who is so keen on lifting people to fulfil destinies.

According to the Princess, the water projects in Pakuro and Iwaya communities is one of several humanitarian and philanthropic activities undertaking by Ooni of Ife to serve humanity through the Hopes Alive Initiatives.

“We are into many humanitarian projects across Nigeria to touch the lives of millions of Nigeria, both young and old. I see Ooni as a role model, someone I consider my hero. I see him as someone who has been inspiring my life so much,” she said.

Princess Adesegun revealed that the Free Water for All Project will take Ooni of Ife’s Hope Alive Initiative to all the nook and crannies of the country as the Imperial Majesty has directed that he wants many Nigerians to benefit from it.

“We will touch many communities across Nigeria. This is an ongoing project. We are not stopping in Pakuro and Iwaya alone. This is the plan and we are ready. Which community is next?” the Princess asked rhetorically
