The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that it was the right time for him to address the misunderstnding between the Yoruba and Ndigbo living in the State after the concluded elections in order to restore confidence among the two tribes.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Ogbonna Aguene stated this on the heels of growing anger and mistrust  among the tribes after the ugly incident of violence, which happened during the election in the State.
“It is important now that Governor  Sanwo-Olu should address these two most vibrant and intelligent ethnic groups, Yoruba people and Ndigbo cohabiting in Lagos.”
He noted that the relationship between the two tribes had been cordial since time imemorial and there was need for  Sanwo-Olu to let them know that  the relationship between Ndigbo and Yoruba people cannot be separated.
“The two tribes had bonded over the years. For example, inter tribal marriages has been so high and the two tribes had recorded thousands of marriages for the past 20 years, including my own first daughter, whose husband is from Ondo State.”
He explained that any issue between Ndigbo and Yoruba has become a family affair and none of the tribes should throw stone into the market as you do not ķnow who it will faĺl on; it may be father in-law, mother in-law, your grand child or your helper.
Chief Ogbonna Aguene made the  passionate appeal to Sanwo-Olu to address the situation now before it gets out of control and result into full blown ethnic confĺict.
“Many peopĺe in Nigeria, who will not understand how the whole thing emanated, they will aportion blame on the governor. No doubt, Sanwo-Olu is a man of peace; a man that hates violence and a man with the fear of God. But a good leader can only enjoy his leadership when there is peace, harmony and love among his people.”
“The Governor is my friend and I believe that immediately he addresses this situation, social propaganda and face to face argument will die a natural death in order to avoid what may lead to physical combat between the Yoruba people and Ndigbo in Lagos. No Yoruba man has ever gone to Igboland to buy land to build house and he was refused. Most of Yoruba people, who lived in Igbo land, can testifý that Igbo people are oñe of tribes in the world that respects strangers.”
“The Igbo people prefer fìghting themselves inteŕnally. The reason I am makiñg the clarion call to Mr. Governor  on the relationship between the Yoruba people and Ndigbo is because it is only these tribes that are doing things in common irrespective of religion or politics. When you talk of Lagosians, you talk about the Yoruba people and Ndigbo first. The two tribes massively impacted in developing Lagos State.”
“That shows that there was no foundation of enmity between the two tribes. It is all about competition for who will outdo each other positively, which happens between briĺliant classmates on who come first or second in class. As the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, I, Solomon Aguene, urge Mr. Governor to make peace rapìdĺy between Ndigbo and Yoruba people. It is a known fact that the owners of Lagos are the Yoruba people. That is why many people come from Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun etc to Eko and contest any political position and claim son of the soil. The Governor has to address the situation before ìt is too late and orģanize a large town hall meeting in order to broker peace, which the two tribes, Ndigbo and Yoruba people, will be fully represented and that will be the end of the story. Mr. Governor, information, advice, contributions, can come from anyone. It is not only from the elites, oil & gas magnets and those ĺiving in most expensive areas in Nigeria like Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Maitama, Asokoro etc. You can have vital informations from someone living in Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko, Orile, Makoko, Ilaje etc.”
“Please, address this propaganda fight that is not healthy for your leadership in Lagos. The men of questionable characters, who had been carrying this propaganda that Ndigbo should leave and relocate their businesses outside Lagos should be cautioned.”
“Please, Mr. Good Man, Mr. Sellable, it is urgent. Your command stands as a bond and law to every body in Lagos and nobody can counter it.”
“That is one of the reasons I accept when a lot of people call me a good leader, I don’t see it as praise singing. Above all, leadership is wisdom and  sacrifice” Aguene stated.

  • What you said is good that Mr. Governor should address the issue. But I want to let you know that NO Yoruba or another indigene apart from your Ndigbo can buy Land in your place. Don't tell lies. You know for yourself. Even between your Ndigbo people, you do it. We know about your Anabra people that said Ebonyi people can not come to their place to buy Land. You know that Yoruba people are the most friendly people in Nigeria 🇳🇬 even in the world. Now you said your son or your daughter married a Yoruba. If she is, will your people allow her tomorrow to contest any political position in your place? For where 😅😎 that is a common joke. We are not the ones that say your people should go, you plan it between yourselves. We are not holding you back. Maybe you have to think it over, that is why you want the Governor to intervene. Please I will like to tell you that the Governor can not decide on this alone. All the Obas and the important people among the Yoruba. So if you want everything to be settled, you will need to go with some of your people to meet all the Yoruba Obas and the important people among the Yorubas to talk to them, you and your people will PLEDGE, PROMISE, NEVER say Lagos is no man's Land. Or Lagos belongs to anyone? No Lagos belongs to Yorubas.
