Aminu Balele, chairman of Katsina United
Aminu Balele, chairman of Katsina United has said that the club is still in a learning process despite qualifying for the quarter final of the AITEO Cup from a difficult Gombe zone, where they came second behind Enyimba FC of Aba having eliminated Plateau United and J.Atete FC.
Katsina United is set to tackle Kwara United in the quarter final duel this Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos and Balele is very excited with the progress the team have made this season in the tournament, stressing that the team is capable of beating Kwara United for a spot in the semi -final of the tournament .
“Football loving fans of Katsina state are very happy with the progress that Katsina United has made by qualifying for the quarter final of the AITEO Cup. We are a modest club and still in a learning process when it comes to club football in Nigeria”, Balele said.
“We hope to continue to do well in the competition. Last time Katsina United Feeders’ got to the quarter final before the lost to Akwa United, the eventual champions and we pray and hope that the senior team will take a step further by qualifying for the semi – final of this year’s edition”, he added.
It will be a dicey quarter final affair when the Akwa United , the defending champion file out against old war horse , Rangers International Football club of Enugu at the Sani Abacha stadium same day.
Another interesting quarter final encounter is a game between Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Nasarawa United at the Aba Township stadium on Thursday, while the much anticipated clash between Kano Pillars and Enyimba Fc of Aba has been stated for Sunday at the Patani stadium, Gombe state .
