AKK Gas Pipeline Project Has Reached 72% Completion – Says Engr. Ojulari

Posted on April 11, 2025
The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, announced that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, valued at $2.8 billion, reached 72% completion by the conclusion of the first quarter of 2025.
He announced this update during the 2025 Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF), an event organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria.
Engr. Udobong Ntia, the Executive Vice President of Upstream, delivered remarks on behalf of Ojulari, focusing on the theme “Driving Energy Sustainability Through Technology, Policy, and Supply Chain Excellence.” He emphasized that the conference tackles critical challenges facing Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
Ojulari emphasized the energy issues facing Africa, pointing out that more than 600 million individuals do not have access to electricity. He described this situation as both a hurdle and a prospect for development. He stated that Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, which contributes over 85% of the country’s export earnings and is a major source of government revenue, should spearhead efforts towards achieving a sustainable energy future.
He highlighted the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) of 2021, which has reshaped NNPC into a commercially-driven organization aimed at creating value. As part of Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan, which targets net-zero emissions by 2060, NNPC is broadening its Autogas initiative to encompass more than one million vehicles by 2026 and advancing projects such as the AKK pipeline.
