The final journey of sage, community leader and matriarch of the illustrious families of Orhue-Igbinoba and Omorotionmwan, Mrs. Theresa Enadeghe Orhue will begin on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
According to the programme of the final funeral rites released by the families, a Vigil Mass would be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Sapele Road, Benin City on Thursday at 4 pm.
On Friday, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 10 am followed by interment at her residence, No. 20, Etinosa Street, off Murtala Muhammad Way, Benin City.
There will be a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday to round off the final Funeral rites of the nonagenarian.
Mrs. Orhue, a very successful trader was born in 1925 to the family of Pa Omorotionmwan in Ekhoe Village, an agrarian community in Uhunmwode Local Government of Edo State.
She was married to late Pa Orhue Igbinoba of Agbado Street in Benin City.
She was a devout Christian who in her later years preached the gospel.
She died on September 6, 2021 at the age of 96.
She was survived by her siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and in-laws.
The siblings are Pa Michael Omorotionmwan, Mrs Ekuase Ehigiamusoe, Mrs. Hannah Ijomana, Mrs. Philomena Adams-Aliu and Mr. Peter Omorotionmwan.
The children are Prof. Philip Orhue, Mrs. Cecilia Omorogbe, Mrs. Uyinmwen Owie, Mrs. Kate Agbonwanetan and Mrs. Phillipina Itiose.
Veteran journalist and publisher of online publication, judoblitzng.com, Mr. Ikpo Igbinoba who is a nephew to the late matriarch described her as the epitome of integrity, industry and fidelity.
“Mrs. Orhue was an embodiment of integrity, industry and fidelity. She was our grandmother in the city.
“We( my siblings and I)referred to her as grandmother because she groomed and nurtured our mother.”
“She was the eldest child of my mother’s parents and my mother lived with her until she got married.
“All the credit for my late mother’s success story should be given to her.”
The publisher added “Though she died at the ripe age of 96, she would be sorely missed because she was playing the role of a mentor and counsellor to the younger generation in the community.
