Alumona Bags Innovative Sports Contribution Award

Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Outcomes Group, Jenkins Alumona, was on Friday,  honoured with the Innovative Man of The Year award, at the prestigious Sportsville Special Recognition Award in Lagos. 

 

Alumona received the special recognition for his exceptional contributions to the development of sport in Nigeria.

 

Expressing gratitude for the award, Alumona, represented by the Chief Operating Officer, SOL Group, Bamidele Johnson, humbly stated, “I am deeply honored by this recognition. As a sports enthusiast, my passion for the development of Nigerian sports is reflected in the initiatives undertaken by SOL Group. This award is a validation that our efforts are being recognised. I dedicate this accolade to the entire SOL Group team and everyone who has contributed to our success.”

 

Managing Director of Sportsville, Frank Ilaboya, highlighted the purpose of the award, stating, “The Sportsville Special Recognition Award aims to acknowledge distinguished individuals’ contributions and inspire others to actively contribute to the development of sports in the country.”

 

Alumona, an integrated marketing communications expert with over 30 years of experience, has played pivotal roles in top Nigerian companies such as The Guardian,  TheNews Magazine, The Quadrant Company, where he managed the Pepsi Football League and Seven-Up Basketball League, in addition to other blue-chip accounts like Benson and Hedges and Smithkline Beecham.

 

He also worked with Econet Wireless Nigeria as Manager, Events Sponsorships and Marketing, and Globacom, where he was the Principal Manager in the Brand Communications Department, a position that saw him manage the Globacom Premier League and the company’s other sponsorship assets, including the 2003 All Africa Games (COJA).

 

His passion for sports and innovative mindset, has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian sports landscape, with remarkable initiatives, such as GOtv Boxing Night, the Next Gen search for young boxing talents, and most recently the Naija Super 8 tournament which rekindled football fan attraction to the Nigerian local league, through the creation of a carnival-like stadium atmosphere that resulted in huge attendance throughout the tournament.  Notably, football clubs nationwide now adopt similar approaches, resulting in increased attendance and fervour during matches.

 

Jenkins Alumona’s commitment to sports development and his transformative contributions have rightfully earned him the Innovative Man of The Year award, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
