In a show of unity and support, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, have been unanimously adopted as the consensus candidates for the Anambra South Senatorial District.

The announcement was made during a gathering at the Ekwulobia Township Stadium, where representatives from seven local government areas convened to rally in support for their re-election come November 8, 2025

The gathering also saw the presentation of Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu as the standard bearer for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

In his speech, Governor Soludo expressed his gratitude to the people of south senatorial zone and the entire people of Anambra for their proactive involvement in the campaign, remarking that the support comes even before the official launch of his campaign council.

The Governor also expressed confidence in the APGA Senatorial candidate, declaring that: “A vote for Chief Nwachukwu will ensure the emergence of a Senator who will collaborate closely with the Governor and join the APGA Caucus to implement our policy of working hand-in-hand with the government at the center,” Soludo assured.

Chief Nwachukwu, who received the party flag from APGA’s National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, and the State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, committed to a campaign anchored on the achievements of the Governor. He emphasized his intention to build upon the solid foundation laid by Governor Soludo.

Support for the candidacy was echoed by prominent figures in the zone, including Dr. Paschal Agbodike, the Member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency, and Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Majority Leader at the State House of Assembly. They were joined by Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Humphrey Anuna, President of the Anambra State Market Traders Association, and Dr. Chibueze Oforbuike, Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area. Together, they acknowledged the transformative progress Anambra State has witnessed in the last three years under Governor Soludo and expressed their excitement for the re-election of Governor Soludo for another four-year term.

The occasion reached a memorable peak with the conferral of the ‘Oluatuegwu’ chieftaincy title upon Governor Soludo by traditional rulers in that zone, further solidifying his leadership and influence within the community as the campaign gears up for the upcoming election.
