Anambra: We Have Permanently Shut Tax Windows of Exploitation And Opened A New Door Of Opportunities…

Posted on July 14, 2022

The argument is not about ignorance, as consultations, in the typical Soludo style, were extensive. The Unions, chequered as they are, managed to close ranks and came to the negotiation table where fair deals were reached. Note, the Soludo administration is not so much about the money as it is with a functional system devoid of any form of impudent practice. Little wonder, the new taxes are coming at lower rates compared to what obtained in the near and distant past.

The tax system is no longer multiple as it used to be. There are no windows of patronage to anybody no matter the interest. What we now have is a single door of opportunity that protects both the tax payer from exploitation and the government from revenue shortages. This cannot be efficiently deployed using same daily unregulated collection system. The choice has been long made, that touts are no more needed in the new scheme of tax collection.

Like old habits, we do not expect it to die easy. However, the government is resolved to protect its policy and pact with the people. No matter how well anyone whose window has been shut is trying to glamourise the old system, government is determined to entrench this new way collectively agreed by all stakeholders, including the Riders, Drivers, transport owners, markets and market unions.

This is the fact!
