Anuoluwapo Pry School Crowned Champions Of 2018 Fab-5-Challenge

Anuoluwapo Primary School, Alimosho has been crowned champions of the 2018 Fab-5 – Challenge, after defeating Saint Paul Anglican, Mainland by a lone goal in the final played at the Campos Mini Stadium, Ajele, Lagos Island.

Both sides enjoyed a good game of football, but squandered their chances until Pelumi Ajewole’s lone strike earned the victory for the Alimosho based school.

Saint Paul Anglican and Anuoluwapo Alimosho progressed to the final stage of the tournament after defeating Toydam Nursery and Primary School and Community Primary School, Ikorodu respectively through penalties.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Model Primary School emerged winner of the maiden female tourney after humbling Baptist Girls Primary School 3-2 via penalty shootout, just as Afeez Ikotun emerged the Rising Star of the tournament, while Alice Diles was awarded the female Rising Star prize.

While presenting the awards, Ashiwaju Temitope of Indomie Noodles, commended the organisers of the competition for being consistent, stating that, his brand would continue to support the initiative since it was aimed at building children into the next generation of footballers that could represent the country in the future.

Also speaking after the competition, FC Barcelona, Lagos, Technical Director, Bernat Villa, revealed that, his academy had picked a lot of talented young players in Lagos, adding that, the players had improved because they were learning the academy’s methodology and football philosophy.

Villa said: “Since I arrived Nigeria, I have seen a lot of players and here in Lagos, there are lot of talents because of their physical condition and technical ability. The talents we’ve picked in our academy have improved a lot because they are learning our methodology and football philosophy.

“So with these, plus their skills, we are creating good players but from what I have seen here, there are some good players of course but we see if we can adopt some of them,” he added.

In her remarks, Marketing Consultant, Rite Foods Limited, Yetunde Jack, said her company decided to partner with organisers of FAB 5-Aside Football initiative because it was not just a competition but a good course that was impacting children positively.

The event was also proudly supported by Supersport Let’s Play,  ALAT by Wema Bank Plc and Blaugrana Sport.
