ASUU To Appeal Industrial Court Ruling Stopping Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called the bluff of the ruling of the National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja ordering it to call off the ongoing industrial action.

The Federal Government in a suit, prayed for the order for ASUU to call off its seven months strike. The court granted the prayer on Wednesday.

The Minister of Labour and Employment on behalf of the Federal Government had filed the matter before the court by way of referral to resolve the issue of the ongoing strike by ASUU.

Speaking on the court’s ruling Zonal Coordinator, Southwest of ASUU, Comrade Emmanuel Osodeke in a message dispatched to members Wednesday afternoon, said that they (members) must remain calm as effort is being intensified by the leadership of the Union to appeal the ruling.

The message reads: “Good afternoon Comrade Zcs, kindly inform our members that our lawyer is filing an appeal and stay of execution of the judgment. They should remain calm and strong. A people united can never be defeated. Emmanuel Osodeke.”
