Ahead of the May 14, 2025, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Local Government elections in Kwara State, a prominent journalist and public affairs analyst, Bosun Awoniyi, has thrown his weight behind Comrade Busari Daud’s bid to become the Second Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ilorin South local government area of the state.

In a recommendation letter sent to Daud in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Friday, Awoniyi, a former editor of the Xinhua News Agency in Nigeria, who attended Government High School (GHS), Adeta Ilorin, alongside the candidate, described Daud as the best person for the position.

The political and security analyst urged delegates, especially State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) staff under Ilorin South, to support Daud’s candidacy, ensuring the LGA’s leadership role in the union.

“It is my pleasure to recommend Busari Daud for the position of Second Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ilorin South LGA in Kwara State,” he said.

“I have known the candidate for more than 24 years and have been consistently impressed by his unwavering dedication and commitment to anything he finds himself doing.

He consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for teaching, often going above and beyond to ensure success,” Awoniyi added in a signed statement.

He recalled his efforts in mobilizing old students to support one another. The columnist cited his years of acquaintance with the aspirant.

Awoniyi assured Daud would prioritize members’ interests and welfare while promoting professionalism.

“As Chairman of the Warfare Committee of my alma mater, he proactively took the initiative and mobilized members to support widows, the sick, and children of some of our colleagues,” he added.

“Busari’s dedication is a valuable asset, and I am confident that he will make a significant contribution at the NUT, Kwara chapter,” he said.
