Bolanle Austen-Peters’ ‘House of Ga’a’ Arrives On Netflix 26 July

Come 26 July, get ready to be transported to 18th-century Nigeria as Bolanle Austen–Peters’ directed biopic “House of Ga’a” premieres on Netflix on that day.

House of Ga’a’ recounts the rise and fall of a ruthless kingmaker, Bashorun Ga’a, who wielded deceit and voodoo to reign, only to be undone by his blood.

The star-studded cast includes Femi Branch, Mike Afolarin, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Ibrahim Chatta, Dele Odule, Bimbo Manuel, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo,Gabriel Afolayan, Jide ‘JBlaze’ Oyegbile, Seun Akindele, Yemi Blaq, Adeniyi Johnson, Muyiwa Ademola, Willam Benson, Gbenga Titiloye, and ⁠Kunle Coker.

House of Ga’a is directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters who also co-produces with Joseph Umoibom, while the script is written by Tunde Babalola.

The trio previously collaborated on Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a biopic which won Best Writing at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and debuted on Prime Video on June 21st following a run in the Nigerian box office.

Austen-Peters’ film company, BAP Productions, is responsible for an array of theatre and video productions.

Some of the stage plays credited to the company are Saro The Musical, Fela and The Kalakuta Queens, Moremi The Musical and Death and the King’s Horseman.

Her filmography includes 93 Days, Bling Lagosians, Collision Course and Man of God.
