A 14-year old boy has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 4-year old daughter in sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the boy has been arrested and charged for defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State, which attracts life imprisonment.

The incident happened at Latols Street,  Governor’s Road, Ikotun area of Lagos State, where the boy and the victim’s parents reside.

According to the Police, the boy lured the victim to a place, removed her pants and engaged her in sex before they were caught by the girl’s parents.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division and the boy was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable as the victim’s parents insisted that the boy should be prosecuted for the alleged offence.

Thus, the Police charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence and the charge read:

“That you, the defendant  ‘M’ of Latols Street , Governor’s Road, Ikotun Lagos on the 18/12/ 24 about 1640hrs, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim ‘F’ of 4yrs old and thereby commit an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137, Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Chief Magistrates, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in the juvenile home pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

The names of both the defendant and victim were withheld in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS because they are still minors under the Criminal Laws of the State.
