A 15-year old boy has been charged for allegedly defiling a 7-year old girl by engaging her in sex in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Conde Street, Epe, Lagos where they reside with their parents.

The boy may spend the rest of his life in prison custody going by the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice, which stipulates life imprisonment as punishment for defilement.

The boy was said to have lured the victim into an apartment and engaged her in the act before they were caught by one of their neighbours, who reported to the girl’s parents.

When the girl’s parents examined her private part, they discovered that there was full penetration and the boy has deflowered the girl.

The angry parents went to the Police at Epe Division and reported that the boy had defiled their daughter, who is still a minor.

The boy was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over the alleged conduct and he reportedly admitted to have do so with her consent because she was his girlfriend.

The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned and he was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice since both the defendant and victim are still minors.

The matter was adjourned for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction for trial.

The names of the victim and defendant were withheld in line with the policy of P.M.EXPRESS because they are still minors.
