Building Of Stadium: We’re Open To Partnership From Potential Investors & Well Meaning Nigerians, Says Buruj FC CEO

Dr. Salaudeen Waheed Buruj, CEO of Buruj Football Club that plays in the Third tier Division of Nigeria league system (Nationwide League One (NLO1), opened up in a post-match interview conducted in their match against TCCG FC on Sunday, which ended in a goalless draw.

The respected talent hunter shed some light on football as a veritable investment, which has global coverage in range.

“I don’t know why some investors and well meaning Nigerians have refused to put their money into the business of football even with the drastic input by our Honourable Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, who has drafted football policies, which postulate positive drives on Return-On-Investment.”

“I strongly believe that this is enough to gear-up Financial Institutions, Banks, Developers and other foreign investors to confidently build stadium for some prominent clubs, which can team up to have their private stadium like Hon. Shoname’s Remo Stadium in Ogun State, which served a great purpose and yielded positive impact in the 2021 Season of the NLO1.”

“A thought of this always gives me sleepless nights. It is a wakeup call to all as club stakeholders; this is the time we should meet, spread our tentacles to meet with well meaning Nigerians, who love and have passion for football in the likes of Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, who plays a giant role in our country so to speak. She is a woman with a large heart ready to contribute her quota towards sustainable development. There are still other wealthy individuals that are yet to be unrivaled, and some agencies which can also work out good things for us.” 

“We don’t have good football pitches in this country and  I strongly believe that it is achievable. At least, we watch foreign teams and even travel abroad to watch them. Please let’s invest in our own to give it a phase and also carve a niche for the Nigerian Football.” 

“Ten teams can share one stadium to train and play matches if we really love ourselves. Let’s call on those who can invest in stadium projects. Let everyone bring their value and open up to sign MOU and get things done the right way.”

“There are lot of clubs in Nigeria playing in either NPFL, NNL or NLO1 without having genuine home grounds. This is not supposed to be government’s concern only; it’s our responsibility and it’s time to make it a priority if we really mean football business” Dr. Salaudeen Waheed Buruj concluded.
