Crisis Looms In APGA As Senatorial Aspirant Calls Out Gov Soludo

Posted on May 21, 2022

“I’m Soludo’s Senator, so, I have nothing to worry about the forthcoming party primary election, it is settled.”

As clearly stated, those were the exact words of APGA Senatorial aspirant for Anambra South, Mr. Ben Nwankwo, who met with select members of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, at Orumba penultimate week.
Nwankwo’s recent outbursts and outright insistence that Aguata has nothing in common with Orumba have heated up the polity, prompting other aspirants and their supporters to embark on massive internal consultations over the alleged plot by Gov Soludo to pick Ben Nwankwo as a consensus candidate.

In Anambra South, Engr Chris Azubogu, and Sir Akachukwu Nwankpo, are in the Senatorial race contesting for the APGA ticket and they have been rattled by Ben Nwankwo’s recent vituperations. The questions on everyone’s lips have been; why Nwankwo would choose to drag Gov Soludo along the line of political perdition? What does Nwankwo hope to achieve by telling the world that Gov Soludo promised to make him a Senator? Why would he consciously put the Governor in bad light?

The self- acclaimed Governor’s candidate had consistently informed his supporters that the Anambra South Senatorial slot had been allocated to him for his loyalty to Soludo same way Soludo got the Governorship for his loyalty to Obiano and has nothing to do with the old Aguata region. He told his people that Orumba is not part of Aguata and the agreement he had with Prof Soludo before he became governor was obviously superior to any talk of fairness and equity by people who should be focused on trading and chasing money instead of dabbling into politics, which their parents knew nothing about.

Ben Nwankwo, who now calls himself Dr. Project, in apparent mockery of Mr. Project, should desist from deceiving the party delegates. He should stop giving Governor Soludo headache. Nwankwo must be halted before he destroys the sense of balance, equity and fairness between Nnewi, Aguata and Ihiala Zones of Anambra South with unprecedented political crisis. His effort to use Soludo’s name to create Orumba Zone should not wake up the ghost of autonomous community, which Ezeudo Aguata has successfully buried

Ben Nwankwo knows that since the inception of Soludo’s administration, the people’s governor has been working assiduously to stabilize the polity. Presently, he is preoccupied with work-scripts on how to restore peace and security in the state. Gov Soludo does not need distractions; he should be allowed to settle down in office, to enable him tackle the enormous governance challenges confronting him. No one should drag Gov Soludo out to engage in unnecessary political wars.

Ben Nwankwo should know that the APGA ticket cannot be gifted to anyone simply because he is a governor’s kinsman. While the primary election will definitely determine who will fly the party’s flag, Old Aguata taking the Governorship alongside the Senate under any pretense is not and will never be part of APGA’s legacy. It will die in the hands of those determined to give birth to such power grabbing.
