Posted on October 9, 2025

The Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has concluded preparations to conduct its election into the Executive Committee, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 9th October 2025, at the Lagos SWAN Secretariat, National Stadium, Surulere.

The election is organized by the Lagos SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO), which has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and transparent election that reflects the democratic values and integrity of the Association.

In a statement jointly signed by Sir Victor Enyinnaya, KSP (Chairman, SWANECO) and Jerry Apeleokhai (Secretary, SWANECO), the committee confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.

“We have put structures in place to guarantee the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election, with the safety and security of all members as our utmost priority,” the statement read.

The Electoral Committee also confirmed that the National Secretariat of SWAN has been duly notified and formally invited to observe the election in line with the Statute of the Association, which provides for the National Body to play an observatory role in state elections.

“We are confident that the presence of the National leadership or their appointed representative will be appreciated, and this will reinforce our commitment to due process and internal democracy,” the committee added.

The Lagos SWAN election marks a significant moment in the chapter’s democratic journey, as members prepare to elect a new leadership that will steer the affairs of the association in the state for the next term.

All accredited members of Lagos SWAN are expected to participate actively in the process, as the Electoral Committee looks forward to a peaceful and successful election.
