Delta 2022 Table Tennis: Team Lagos’ Emmanuel Faces Delta Player In S/Final Test

A Lagos State ping ponger, Augustine Emmanuel, is through to the semifinal of the Men’s Singles event in the 21st National Sports Festivals, NSF, in Asaba, Delta State.
The table tennis player, who is scheduled to play against Bello Ahmed of Delta State in the semifinal, outstroked Amidi Ollawale of Federal Capital Territory, FCT by three set to two, 11 – 4, 7 – 11, 11 -5, 6 – 11, 11 -9, in the quarter final, decided on Sunday at the Indoor sports hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba Delta State
Emmanuel’s opponent, Bello Ahmed of Delta State, qualified for the semifinal after beating River State ping ponger, Jide Ogidiolu, who dethroned the defending champion, Omeh Amadi of Ondo State by four straight set of 11 – 8, 11 – 8, 11 – 5, 11 – 6.
An upcoming Lagos State table tennis player, Adegoke Muyis, who started the game on a good note after defeating Seun Raphael of Kwara, lost to Solanke Azeez of Delta State, who is scheduled to play Fagbamila Akinwale of Ondo State in the semifinal.
However, Delta State, has dominated the semifinal of Women’s Singles, as the event’s defending champion, Fatimo Bello alongside her compatriots, Ajoke Ojomo and Ogundele Rashidat are through to the semifinal.
In the quarter final matches played, Fatimo Bello who defeated Jimoh Rofiat by four straight set of 11 -3, 11 – 1, 11 -4, 11 -3, will now meet veteran female ping ponger, Hussein Halimat of Oyo State, who outplayed Aminat Fashola of Delta State.
Ajoke Ojomo beat Asaju Bisola of Kwara State while Rashidat Ogundele defeated Tolu Durosimi -Etti of Rivers State by 11 – 3, 11 – 8, 11 – 7, 11 – 9.
According to the Chief Referee of table tennis, Oluranti Olajide, all the singles events will be concluded on Monday, December 5th, 2022
