DG Lekan Fatodu Assures Parents Of Their Kids Welfare and Safety, As Team Lagos Ready For Asaba For 8th NYG

The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu met with parents of the state’s contingent to the 8th National Youth Games, which has been scheduled for Asaba, Delta State from 9-19 September 2024.

The meeting took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba Sunday evening as the team get set to depart for venue of the Youth Games early on Monday to join their counterparts across the nation to compete at the Youth Games in Asaba.

The Director General informed the parents that the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu places high premium on youth development, adding Mr Governor himself is monitoring what is happening in Team Lagos camp, reason the parents be rest assured that their wards’ welfare and security are top priority of the officials of the sports commission.

Fatodu told newsmen after the meeting that “the initiative to meet with the parents within the camp facilities was to reassure them of the safety and the level of security, the level of accommodation, the level of hospitality and the level of support the sports loving Governor who is also a children loving Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu  is given towards the achievement of success at the National Youth Games.

“I must emphasize that these youths are important to the future of Lagos State, and they need to be protected in all ways, and they need to be supported in their sporting aspirations as well. The only people we can give the level of assurance is the parents that their kids will be well protected and secured.

“I am happy to say that the parents from their responses were so impressed with what we put on ground. They were so convinced that Lagos State is doing something that is so innovative and unique. That is the kind of positive handshake expected between a serious and committed government and parents who are bringing their kids as ambassadors of the state in this National Youth Games. You can see the excellence that Lagos State is known of,” the Director General said.

One of the parents, Mr. Osang John Otu, who has two kids, Osary Sophia and Nineh Atagana, both of them representing the state in the kick boxing event, commended the management of the Lagos State Sports Commission for seeing the parents as important stakeholders to the success of Team Lagos at the 8th National Youth Games

“I am so happy with the level of preparation put in place by the Commission. This shows that our kids are in safe hands,” Osang said.

He disclosed that he has promised his children participating in the Youth Games that if they qualify for finals in their respective events at the championship, he will bring all members of his family in Lagos to cheer them to victory.

“With what I saw here today, I want to thank our dear Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for all he is doing to make these children good ambassadors of the state and also give them the platform to showcase their God-given talents. This is worthy of commendation and applause. I want to say that I am proud to be a Lagosian,” Osang said.

The Director General, Hon. Lekan Fatodu met with the parents in the company of some of the top management staff of the Sports Commission.
